It’s been a big time for courses. In my previous post (The Week That Wasn’t) I talked about my preparation for the i-Evolve program which was run last week.
On the Friday of that week I attended the annual conference of the Linkfluencer program. That was a detailed and very useful day of how to utilise LinkedIn for the best results.
The week just gone was spent at i-Evolve where I had the honour and privilege of presenting the Astrology module.
While it was exciting to be a trainer in that situation (it feels like a long time since I’ve done that kind of work and it reminded me that I do love it) I was also able to sit in on the Tarot and Feng Shui components run by George and Roberta Faddoul.
The i-Evolve program was a combination of Astrology, Tarot and Feng Shui. It was an intriguing and unique course with a fascinating group of people. As numbers were limited the attendees had been specially selected to participate in this brand new program.
The Temple Visit
In addition we spent a very peaceful half day at the Nan Tien Buddhist Temple in Berkeley, just south of Wollongong.
Even as we drove in it felt calm and peaceful even though the highway goes right past with constant heavy traffic noise.
Apparently, it was built using Feng Shui principles and the sense of calmness and serenity was amazing. I felt like it was almost inappropriate to be speaking. I think I could handle a bit more time there and the challenge is to keep that peacefulness through the rest of my ‘normal’ life.
Danita’s Office
Talking about peacefulness, while I was toiling away over a hot microphone and PowerPoint clicker, Danita was busy on She Business activities.
Their annual Fearless event is on this week and, as you’d know if you’ve ever organised an event for over 200 people, there’s a LOT to do.
Of course, life wouldn’t be complete without some additional chaos.
As well as organising Fearless the new She Business website is being launched this week – another major, full time project.
Because we’re able to work from almost anywhere (as long as we can get electricity and an internet connection) Danita came with me and we stayed at a lovely retreat in Kiama. Sancho was the driving force behind our choice of residence as we needed a place which would allow dogs. We can recommend Kiama’s Spring Creek Retreat.
The location is wonderful and Danita worked away industriously with spectacular views of rolling hills, cows and ocean views. (The “ocean views” are actually real estate agent speak – you know, on a clear day if you stand on your toes and hold your tongue just the right way you can see a bit of the horizon with a skerric of ocean. Actually it’s the Tasman Sea so it’s not really an ocean view at all but who’s arguing…)
Coming Home
We returned on Friday and it took me a couple of days to get back into ‘work’ mode.
Naturally, all the courses in the world are a waste of time if you don’t put the learning into practice.
One of the big challenges with house-sitting is being able to implement the Feng Shui teachings. Roberta spent a lot of time discussing the impact of clutter. Because we move regularly we’ve managed to reduce our clutter quotient significantly.
However, the big question is: “What to do with other people’s clutter?”
One thing (among many) we’ve learned from over 3 years of house-sitting is: no matter how big the house is it’s invariably filled with clutter.
Another interesting thing about Feng Shui – its principles can be utilised in many different ways, even the layout of the icons on your computer. Now that’s intriguing.
A new twist on house-sitting
Perhaps, as part of our house-sitting service (for which we don’t charge) we could offer a feng shui make over so you’d come back to a clutter free home. That’s something we could charge for… Hmm!!! A potential business opportunity me thinks 🙂
The implications (and complications) of such an offer are huge!
Back to work
Anyway, we’re now back to normality (whatever that means) and working on implementing all the amazing things I’ve learned over the past few days.
