Depending on your pronunciation the title of this post could create some very interesting (and confusing) images.
However, what I want to look into is regarding the recent movement of the planet Uranus. (We’ll return to our series about personal evolution shown by the planets next week – unless there’s some other major distraction.)
Lately, I’ve heard quite a bit about electrical systems failing in catastrophic ways. This includes Google being offline for 5 minutes on 17th August at 8am Sydney time, the M5 tunnel being shut down in peak hour due to a major power failure, Microsoft’s Office 365 being offline, Amazon, the NASDAC, Qantas, Virgin and more having major issues. These are all organisations that you’d think know how to run a server farm and having plenty of redundancy.
According to GoSquared, Google being offline resulted in a 40% drop in internet traffic.
We’re now totally dependent on the internet and power company’s to keep the world going in the manner to which we’ve become accustomed (and presumably would like to continue).
So, is there something significant going on or is this business as usual?
Being of an astrological bent, I look to the Solar System to see if there are any significant movements. A fascinating one that’s going on at the moment is the motion of the planet Uranus and its angular relationship to some of the other planets.
Astrologically, Uranus represents the principle of revolution and change. (There’ll be more on this in my series: Growing Up By The Planets – stay tuned for the Uranus episode.) It’s also associated with science, technology, electricity, the New Age.
We can see how that relates to the electricity systems, the internet and computer booking systems (Qantas & Virgin).
Since the last week of July Uranus’ motion has been retrograde. This means, it appears to be going backwards through the signs of the zodiac. The significance of this is that when a planet is in retrograde we find that expressing the energy associated with it becomes blocked and often becomes explosive or destructive. (When there are challenging times communicating people often ask about Mercury being retrograde.)
Currently, Uranus is on the 13th degree of Aries. It entered that degree on the 21st August and is there until the 21st September. The Sabian Symbol for that degree is “An unexploded bomb reveals an unsuccessful social protest”. It’s about sudden and dramatic attempts to change the status quo.
As well as Uranus entering the 13th degree on that date it was also EXACTLY connected to the planets Jupiter and Chiron. (Chiron’s not technically a planet but for the purposes of astrological discussion I included it as one)
Jupiter is the planet of growth and expansion and Chiron is the wounded healer. Combining those forces with the disruptive power of Uranus is making for “interesting times”.
So, what lesson can we take away from these events? With any astrological influences I see an opportunity and a challenge. The challenge is often being able to deal with the disruption in our lives that comes about at times of significant upheavals. The opportunity is how to benefit from what’s happening.
Whenever any system on which we’ve become dependent breaks down we’re often shaken to our core – we start to see how adaptable and creative we really are. Perhaps we need to re-evaluate our dependence on things like social media for our connections to other people. When major disasters occur we often find an upsurge in the level of compassion. This isn’t just in terms of how much money people donate to charities but also how they relate to others.
Uranus stays retrograde until mid December. During this time it stays closely connected to Chiron. Chiron is the planet about connectedness to others and compassion. If we can focus on the healing elements of Chiron this can be used as an amazing time of growth and development. We could also choose to focus on Chiron’s wounded aspects and that would be very painful.
Over the next couple of months look at your beliefs and values – they’re sure to be challenged. By the end of the year will you be stronger, more compassionate and more connected to others or will you be a screaming puddle of chaos and confusion? Remember the challenge and the opportunity. Grasping the opportunity which is here now will enable great shifts. Being overwhelmed by the challenges is also an option.
The choice is yours.
