The most important word in any language: (phonetic spelling) If you’re feeling helpless, help someone. When people talk, listen completely. Most people never listen. Speak as though you are certain, listen as though you are not. It’s not what you have, but what you enjoy that constitutes your abundance. True satisfaction comes from appreciating what you have. It’s always better to appreciate things you cannot have than to have the things you cannot appreciate. Great spirits have often encountered violent opposition from weak minds. In order to enjoy flowers tomorrow you have to plant seeds today. Somehow there’s never enough time to do a job properly, but always time to do it again. How do you learn to make good decisions? Rien n’est plus difficile, et donc plus précieux, que d’être capable de décider. Love…If you have it, you don’t need to have anything else, and if you don’t have it, it doesn’t matter what else you have. When it comes to life, the critical thing is whether you take things for granted or take them with gratitude. The essence of the beautiful is unity in variety. Anyone who thinks money doesn’t buy happiness has never owned a dog. The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra. Giving up doesn’t mean you are weak. Sometimes it means that you are strong enough to let go. In the midst of winter I finally learnt there was in me an invincible summer. If you can’t add years to your life, add life to your years. Promise only what you can deliver. Then deliver more than you promise. Mistakes are the portals of discovery. I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult. Everyone has to be someone to someone in order to be anyone. Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm. Skill is successfully walking a tightrope over Niagara Falls. Intelligence is not trying. Some people want it to happen, “I must do something” always solves more problems than “Something must be done”. Education is what you get when you read the fine print. Experience is what you get when you don’t. Now for something completely different: Don’t tell me the sky’s the limit when I know there are footprints on the moon. It doesn’t matter whether your glass is half full or half empty. If you want to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first create the universe. If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader. It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change. Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted. Being grateful for the good things is easy. The challenge is to be grateful for the hard times – they made you the strong, independent, capable person you are. You are not your customer so don’t worry if you can’t afford your prices! Life is made up of a series of experiences. Each one will make you stronger, even though it may be hard for you to realize it at the time. Death is nature’s way of telling you to slow down. Have a heart that never hardens, a temper that never tires, a touch that never hurts. If the sky falls in, eat clouds for breakfast. Tenacity and dogged determination are the real secrets to business. Never forget that only dead fish swim with the stream. Not the cry, but the flight of a wild duck, leads the flock to fly and follow. It’s not enough to be in the right place at the right time. You have to be the right person in the right place at the right time. You’ve done chill out, freak out, break out, come out, hang out, speak out. Now try fun out. Pick battles big enough to matter, small enough to win Best way to avoid punch – no be there. Success comes when we face up to the responsibility for motivating ourselves. A stranger is just a friend I haven’t met yet. It is what we make of what we have, not what we are given, that separates one person from another.

The Dalai Lama goes into a pizza shop and asks “Can you make me one with everything?”
– Heard on the Gretel Killeen program on ABC radio 702
This was later followed up with:
He gives the pizza guy a $100 note, and is given his pizza but no change. When he asks about this, he is told, “Change must come from within”.
