Welcome to 2014. Congratulations – you made it!
13 is the number of transformation and so, is often associated with death – a fairly significant transformation.
However, while transformation (or change) is often uncomfortable it’s usually for our benefit. The challenge for us it to understand the true nature of the change we are going through and hence see how it is helpful for us.
Very often we hear of people who’ve had experiences which they thought would be the end of their lives; loss of a job, loss of a partner through death or divorce, a major accident and more, only to find years later that the event they thought was the end of their lives would turn out to be a major turning point and beginning of a much happier and fuller life.
For me, 2013 feels very much like one of those events – it was a global watershed in many areas.
2014 is a whole new beginning. I believe this is not just the beginning of another year but something much more profound.
Significantly, 7 is a very important number.
According to the Kabbala: “Seven is the number of the natural world. There are 7 days in the week, 7 notes on the musical scale and 7 directions (left, right, up, down, forward, back and center).”
From numerology we have: “The 7 is spiritual, but not religious. In fact, the age-old questions of what life is all about, why are we here, who are we, and so forth, never reach the status of clichés, but are essential to the 7’s life-experience, and unless he finds the answers he will not stop looking for them until he dies.”
2014 has very strong 7 energy associated with it. 14 is 2×7, 2014: 2+0+1+4=7.
My understanding is that we will see the spiritual being brought more clearly into the mundane world.
A few years ago we would only have heard the words ‘soul’ & ‘purpose’ mentioned in church or within the context of religion.
Now, they’re becoming very common within conversations about the nature of business – Simon Sinek’s TED talk and his book ‘Start With The Why’ are good examples.
In Jonathan Sacks’ book ‘The Great Partnership – God, Science and the Search For Meaning’ he describes man (in the generic sense) as being “the meaning-seaking animal”.
These are really saying the same thing; we search for meaning in everything around us and everything we do and this is expressed in the search for ‘why’. “What is your why?”, “Why do things happen?”, “Why am I here?” are important and fundamental questions.
For a long time (some would say, for millenia) these questions have been left to a select few; the priests, the philosophers, the thinkers.
I believe we are seeing these questions become the domain of the many. This has significant implications for how we interact, how we do business, how we treat our staff and those people and businesses who are able to respond to this will blossom in 2014 while those who resist the call will decline.
Astrologically, we started 2014 with a new moon – a new beginning.
The Sabian Symbol for the degree the Sun and Moon were both on at the time (10 Capricorn) is: A large group of pheasant on a private estate. Its key explanation, from Dane Rudhyar, is – “The refinement and propagation of aristocratic values by means of which man participates in the evolution of life toward ever more perfect forms of existence.”
From this we see that humanity is being a co-creator in the development of “ever more perfect forms of existence” and that 2014 is a pivotal time in that process.
This is very exciting! We have great things to achieve and the universe is supporting us in that work.
The challenge is to overcome the malaise, exhaustion and sense of defeat many of us are feeling coming out of the transition process which culminated in 2013.
We’ve been through a very dark time and now we’re stepping into the light. If you’re seeing and feeling that light make sure you share it especially with those who’ve been beaten down and are struggling to get back up again – but remember to ‘be nice’.
In 2014, more than any time before, it’s important to ‘Be the change you want to see in the world’ (which BTW was never said by Gandhi but it’s still an important message).
To help you understand what this means for you personally and for your friends and loved ones a great way to start is to participate in our Navigating Your Natal Chart course starting on Wednesday 12th February. Click here for more details.
All the best and I look forward to sharing this exciting time and journey with you.
