We’ve survived the ‘silly season’ and now it’s time to focus on plans for the coming year.
(Firstly, if that’s challenging for you, you can download our free workbooks to help get you on the path to having the life of fulfilment and joy you’re meant to be living.)
On our nomadic journey Danita & I were fortunate to be able to spend some special time over this festive season on a 150 acre property just past Wisemans Ferry. This enabled us to do some important thinking and exploring together. We’re very excited about 2013 and are looking forward to the challenges and opportunities.
The first big challenge is to get out of holiday mode. In Australia nothing much seems to happen from the beginning of December (for some people it’s from the Melbourne Cup) until Australia Day on 26th January.
So, while I’m excited about the prospects for 2013 and what we’re going to be doing, I’m finding it challenging to get back into gear to be writing on a regular basis.
It really is very pleasant being in holiday mode. Out in the country it’s quiet; the sound of birds, crickets and cows, the breeze in the trees with an occasional car in the distance to gently remind you of activity in the world. The days are hot and they’re spent in the pool (keeping a very close eye on the red back spider with her nest in the corner). The nights are cool and so, thankfully, we’re able to sleep.
Each morning and evening we’d take the dogs for a walk and visit the cows and horses on the property.
At night the sky was so clear you could actually see the Milky Way.
Yesterday, we returned from this blissful existence to the ‘city residence’ which is also part of this house-sit.
The restful sound of country life is replaced by leaf blowers, trucks and very loud neighbours. In the distance you can hear buildings going up (or perhaps coming down).
The number of stars seems to have dramatically declined, bringing to mind the story (I think it’s a Buddhist one) that the end of the world will happen when all the stars go out. Hey, December 21 2012 didn’t work out as the doom-sayers had predicted so we need something to keep it going or a whole industry around an apocalyptic end of the world will have nothing to work with.
Hollywood and writers will lose a whole genre. Just think of all the jobs that’ll be lost. This is clearly something the government needs to address urgently – then again, maybe they are.
And so we return to city life and the joys and challenges of improving the world. We’re doing it through Aviel and She Business. There’ll be more on that in the coming weeks so stay tuned.
