Right now we’re living an idyllic life.
Danita and I have work which is challenging and interesting but no longer overwhelming.
The place we’re living in is beautiful, spacious and right near the bay (see last week’s post).
We’ve been able to reclaim our weekends. Last Sunday we had a very slow day, a walk to the nearby dog friendly beach and brunch at the local cafe in the park by the water. This weekend was quite social with visitors on Saturday and Sunday. All very civilised.
(This is a picture of our current back yard.)
Also, considering it’s the middle of winter we’ve been having beautiful summer weather – well I it’s the way I’d like summer to be 🙂
Because things have been relatively calm Danita and I have both had a chance to do some thinking and getting back into what our lives really should consist of.
Danita’s role with She Business is now more involved with keeping in touch with the members and setting up systems and processes to make sure the operational side of the business works well. That way members can have the best possible experience She Business can offer.
For my part I’ve spent time working on some books and have started to develop an Astrology course which will be delivered on-line. These are things I’ve been talking about and thinking about doing for some time but have always felt pressured to be doing other things – you know those ones you ‘SHOULD’ be doing rather than the ones you WANT to be doing.
I’ve recently come across an article on the Crew blog: “Getting Out of your Comfort Zone: Why It’s Hard and Why You Should“. It makes the point that learning improves when you are outside your comfort zone – that makes sense. After all, when you’re outside your comfort zone it creates new pathways in the brain and new connections. However, there’s a fine line between the learning zone and the panic zone – where you are so far outside your comfort zone that you start to freak out. Lack of certainty seems the greatest challenge. (According to Anthony Robbins, Certainty is one of the six human needs.)
House-sitting is a great way to live outside your CZ. However, lack of certainty (like not knowing where you’ll be living for the next month) can be challenging. I’m constantly impressed by Danita’s positivity and trust that things will work out and so far she’s been pretty spot on.
I confess to being a bit more challenged by it but I’m learning to flow with the energy of the time. Right now that energy is about putting in place things we’ve been talking about for some time and it feels good to be making progress.
