There’s a saying “if you remember the ‘60s you weren’t there”. That’s a bit how I’m feeling about this last week.
Sunday we moved from the serviced apartment in Macquarie Park to Chatswood. I covered that in last week’s post where I talked about the importance of friends.
From there it’s all been something of a blur.
Tomorrow the i-Evolve program starts. It’s a 4 day course based on the very well known and even rarer book called “The Book of Wealth”.
This is what Amazon says about it:
“An Inquiry into the Nature and Distribution of the World’s Resources and Riches, and a History of the Origin and Influence of Property, its Possession, Accumulation and disposition in all Ages and among all Nations”
That’s how Hubert Howe Bancroft described his monumental 10-volume BOOK OF WEALTH when it was originally published in 1896.
Produced in a very limited edition, and available only to the wealthiest families and individuals around the world, THE BOOK OF WEALTH goes back through recorded history — beginning with the Sumerians, the Egyptians and Babylonians — and explores the wealthiest individuals, institutions, organizations, religious foundations and nations that have built great wealth.
Tracing the creation, acquisition and movement of wealth from the earliest civilizations to the dawn of the 20th Century, THE BOOK OF WEALTH analyzes what the wealthy did and how they did it.
The i-Evolve program was developed by George and Roberta Faddoul. Ever since we met as co-contributors of the “Secrets of Great Success Coaches Exposed!” George and I have been talking about doing something together and it’s finally happened and THIS IS IT!!
The program covers Astrology, Tarot and Feng Shui. I’m thrilled, humbled and daunted by the prospect that I’m presenting the Astrology component.
That’s why this last week has disappeared. I’ve been preparing my part.
Preparation
While I only have 8 hours to work with, it’s amazing just how much time can go into the preparation.
I’ve been reading the book “Talk Like TED” by Carmine Gallo. In it he talks about the time taken to prepare for an 18 minute TED talk.
One example he gave involved over 200 hours of preparation. I’m not giving a TED talk but I get the point of the amount of preparation required to make things look simple.
And so, my week has disappeared in a blur of PowerPoint slides and Astrology charts.
On The Move Again
This course is being held in Wollongong and so my family (Danita, Sancho & I) have moved down south for a few days. Today was “moving day”.
You’d think that as urban nomads, relocating for a few days would be “simple as…” Somehow, having to pack up the car a few days after arriving in our new house seemed more daunting than our complete moves.
Wardrobe Planning
One of my biggest dilemmas was what to wear?… not just for the move but for the week.
As a male that’s usually not a question which is of major concern. Maybe my feminine side is becoming a bit too pronounced. It felt like I was agonising for hours over which shirts to take and how many pairs of trousers I needed. After all, I’d be in front of the same group of people for four days and couldn’t be seen to be wearing the same outfit more than once. And then there’s which hats to take, how hot is it going to be????
I think it’s time to go back to being “a bloke” and have one pair of black pants and a few white shirts – those were the days!!! Somehow I suspect that’s not going to happen – especially since my stylist, Robin Powis, would be horrified.
We eventually got the car loaded and we were happy that we’d managed to get what we needed into one car load. At one point it did feel like I was going to need one of our moving vans.
Back In The Country
We’re now in a lovely rural place in Kiama with ocean views and cows in the next paddock.
Sancho’s back in his element. He loves chasing and barking at cows. Trouble is – they don’t get the game. They just stand and look at him with the bewildered looks on their faces that cows do so well.
For Danita and me this is an environment we love being in.
My New Beginning
As they say “Today is the first day of the rest of your life”.
With this new program starting it feels for me, like tomorrow is the beginning of a whole new life.
