One of the joys of housesitting is visiting local markets. This is especially the case when we are present for the inaugural event and it’s the work of a friend.
Male Energy Challenged – Mars Square Jupiter
But, before I tell you about today’s market adventure I’d like to highlight something that’s been going on recently.
You may have noticed, especially if you’re a male or you have a significant male in your life, that last week was something of a challenge.
I found myself exhausted, grumpy and struggling with anger.
OK, doing an all-nighter on a database project may have contributed a bit.
That’s what I attributed my emotional state to – lack of sleep and food – until I started hearing about difficulties other men were going through.
One of the people I work with had managed to pick up a serious bug from his grandson and was off work for a few days (problematic when you’re the business owner).
Danita heard from a woman she’s friendly with that her husband had just attempted suicide which fortunately failed and there were a number of other situations where men were having a very difficult time.
If it’s just me I can take responsibility and associate my state with my own activities, or lack thereof.
However, when I’m hearing that it’s not just me but something more universal going on, it sends me off to my astrology charts to see what trends are happening in the Universe.
This week it was a Mars square Jupiter (Taurus to Leo).
Mars is the planet associated with masculine energy – drive, physicality, blood, war and more.
Jupiter represents the principle of growth and expansion. It operates like a magnifying glass highlighting where faults and problems are.
A square is an aspect of tension.
Having Mars square Jupiter meant that the masculine drive was being intensely focused on.
For women that was a great time – they had lots of energy, drive, got things done and generally were firing on all cylinders.
That’s because they are naturally aligned with the feminine energies and so a burst of masculine energy works well for them.
For the boys however, it was a different story.
They were more prone to becoming unbalanced, having an excess of male energy and their masculinity coming under intense scrutiny.
That energy was most intense over the last few days of last week and peaked on the 18th (Saturday) but it would have been building for some time.
So, if you’re a man and had a difficult time last week remember – it’s not you.
Flow with it, examine what happened and learn about yourself.
You’ve just spent a few days like a bug pinned to a board for the purpose of scrutiny and examination.
If you’re a woman with males in your life who seemed to be particularly objectionable last week, forgive them and move on – it was a blip, not their normal state.
Back to the Markets
Having got that off my chest, I can now return to a very pleasant Sunday.
We attended the first ever That Great Market and it certainly was.
There was a range of quality products, a really friendly environment and great food.
A couple of things jumped out at me which probably reflects my neurological radar than the real state of things.
If you’re a francophile this market was a great place to be – lots of stalls seemed to have a decidedly French emphasis.
That could be because the owners of the house we’re in are in Paris for an extended period and so I’ve become much more tuned to the world of French goods.
The other thing I found interesting was that the main food stalls (which provided awesome food and coffee) had to be imported from Glebe.
Doesn’t anyone on the North Shore do good food?
Overall, the stalls were great, the food was great, the people were great, the location was great and so it really lived up to its name of That Great Market (and not a Mars bar in sight).
Not only that but it was started by the wife of the cousin of one of Danita’s girlfriends who’s been around since their primary school days – so lots of great connections 🙂
Next one is on May 17th so put it into your diary now – East Lindfield Community Hall, 9 Wellington Road, East Lindfield 10am-4pm.
Today’s Other Big Win
We had another big win today.
After returning from the markets, I reassembled the water feature which I had managed to demolish some time ago.
I wrote about it in a previous post – Fessin’ Up.
You’ll remember I broke the base plate of the custom made water feature.
After weeks of work, I’d finally reassembled the broken base and got it holding water.
Today was the big test (it had to hold water and the weight of the column and ball) and it passed with flying colours.
The fountain works and it’s delightful having the sound of running water once again outside the bedroom window.
(From a Feng Shui perspective I think that’s a good thing – not entirely sure though).
There could be a downside to that – the sound of running water can significantly impact the need for a bathroom.
In a house with only one that could get interesting.
Anyway, we’re thrilled that it’s up and running again and we’ll see what happens.
